Every Christmas Eve, after all of the decorations are up, my family always goes to the Nutcracker at the Fox Theater, ever since my older brother, Robbie, was 2 or 3 years old. After we enjoy the show, we go to the Varsity, and every single year, my mom gets 2 chilidogs, as does my brother. Because I don’t like to get messy, I get 2 cheese dogs. After we eat, we go home, and every single year, my brother and I play video games until my mom calls us upstairs, where we bake cookies and leave them out for Santa. Next, we sit down and read from one of our favorite Christmas books, Christmas Stories. After we are done reading, I always go upstairs and sleep in my brother’s room, which we only do on Christmas Eve.

When I wake up, which always seems to be around 6:30, I sit around until I can’t wait any longer and yell at my brother to wake him up, and then we both go into my mom’s room. “Mom! We’re going downstairs!” My mom always says “Let’s wait for a little bit longer.” As soon as we really think that we can go, we go back to my mom’s room, which is only 20 minutes after we come in for the first time, and tell her that we are going downstairs, so she gets up and reluctantly comes with us.

We then open our presents, and my mom makes pigs in a blanket, cinnamon buns, bacon and waffles. When we are done, we go to one of my mom’s friend’s houses for Christmas lunch and dinner. Although Christmas for this year is over, I always will look forward to these exciting things next year. I will always enjoy going to the Nutcracker, and I will continue doing this for the rest of my life. Even though Robbie is graduating this year, we will always continue our traditions when he comes home for Christmas.
