Last Sunday, February 3, marked Super Bowl LIII where the veteran New England Patriots battled the upstart LA Rams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. This game is one of the most watched sporting events in the nation and millions across the country cheered on their team.

It was a gritty and very defensive game all the way through with a halftime score of only 3-0 Patriots. In the second half, the Rams were able to tie the game with a field goal, but towards the end, the NFC champs could not stop the aggressive offense of New England. The final score was 13-3, giving the franchise their sixth championship.

The Patriots were far more experienced, having been in the Super Bowl for the past three years and four of the last five. Quarterback Tom Brady and Coach Bill Belichick led them to their sixth championship w.

The Rams are a young team with many impactful players, but this was their first playoff drive in 14 years. However, some fans believe Los Angeles had what it took to win. Eighth grade boy and football player Quinton E, said, “The Patriots lost to the underdog last year, and I think that can happen again.”

Even though the Patriots were favored to win and ended up winning, many people didn’t want to see them take home the trophy because of that. Sixth grade girl, Dya V., said, “I don’t like the Patriots because they always win.”

Bryce H., an eighth grade boy, agreed. He said, “There is no reason to like the Patriots.”

Despite who’s playing, the Super Bowl is still one of the most enjoyable times for American families and sports enthusiasts. Hallie H., a sixth grade girl, said that she enjoys the event. “We have a party, and a lot of friends come over, and we hang out and watch the game,” she explained.

Another way fans celebrate is by hanging out with family and watching the game together. “I watch with my family because we get very intense when the Patriots are in the Super Bowl,” said Patriots fan Ryan C.

Some football lovers like to hang out with friends while they watch the game to add even more fun to the experience. Seventh grader Stella C. said, “I am going over to a friend’s house to watch the game.”

One of the most enjoyed parts of the Super Bowl is the commercials. They are always seen for the first time and never aired again. “I enjoy the commercials, they are always entertaining, and they’re fun to watch because you’ve never seen them before,” said Bryce H.

These commercials have such an impact on the viewers that many fans remember some of the best of them from games in the past. Stella C. said, “I really liked the puppy, monkey, baby commercial from a few years ago, and I always love the Bud light commercials because they are very funny.”

Overall, the Super Bowl is a great experience for everybody who watches, and it always gives fabulous entertainment. For the last 53 years, this event has always been exciting to watch, and it is an excellent opportunity to spend time with friends and family.
